UPSL Announces Northeast Expansion with Boston Scorpions SC

Boston, MA-based Club Joins Northeast Conference for 2020 Spring Season

March 18, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Boston Scorpions Soccer Club as its newest Division 1 member.

Based in Boston, MA, Boston Scorpions SC will begin UPSL play in the 2020 Spring Season as part of the Northeast Conference Patriot Division. The club will host its UPSL home games at Memorial Stadium on the campus of Chelsea High School (299 Everett Ave., Chelsea, MA 02150) in compliance with UPSL National Division standards.

United Premier Soccer League Patriot Division Manager Luis Costa said, "Boston Scorpions SC is a club that will bring talented players and a high-quality, competitive side to the UPSL, and I'm excited to welcome the club to the Patriot Division. Claudio Ancia is a strong advocate for players and his club, which continues to grow stronger every year. I'm looking forward to watching the Scorpions take the field with the UPSL crest on their arms, and wish them the best of luck as they prepare for the 2020 Spring Season."

Boston Scorpions SC was created in 2016 and has competed in local amateur leagues around Massachusetts in recent seasons. The club will now compete exclusively in the UPSL.

Claudio Ancia is President of Boston Scorpions SC. Wilton Rangel is Vice President. Luis Carlos is Director.

"We are very excited to play in the UPSL starting this season. We want to play for a meaningful championship, and it's been a very big dream of ours to play in this league," Ancia said.

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams nationwide. The UPSL is the largest Pro Development League in North America. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated.

UPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the league's affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
